Who doesn’t love chocolate biscuits?

In this article, I am going to give you the recipe for simple chocolate biscuits and then also give you some great delicious variations to try with the same recipe. Enjoy!chocolate biscuits

Simple Chocolate Biscuits

You Will Need:

250g (250ml) butter

400g (475ml) brown sugar

1 large egg

210g (375ml) cake flour

10ml baking powder

50ml cocoa powder

Method:

  • Beat the butter and the sugar together until light.
  • Add the egg and beat well.
  • Stir in the remaining ingredients to form a soft dough.
  • Shape into biscuits and place onto a greased baking tray and bake in a preheated oven of 160 degrees celsius for 20 minutes.

Chocolate Biscuit Variations

Choc Chip Cookies

Add 50ml chocolate chips to the dough.

Roll dough into walnut-sized balls and place evenly spaced on a greased baking tray.

Press down with a fork and bake them in a preheated oven as above.

Orange And Walnut Biscuits

Mix 20ml grated orange rind and 40ml chopped walnuts into the chocolate dough mixture.

Roll dough into balls and place on a greased baking tray.

Flatten balls and press half a walnut on top of the biscuit.

Bake in a preheated oven as above.

Jam Hearts

Roll the chocolate dough out onto a floured surface.

Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out heart shapes from the dough.

Place on a greased baking tray.

Use the back of a wooden spoon handle to press a hollow in the center of each heart.

Fill the center with smooth strawberry jam.

Bake and allow to cool before removing from the baking tray.

Mocha Chocolate

Add 25ml coffee granules to the chocolate dough.

Roll the dough into a thin sausage shape and wrap in cling film.

Place in the fridge for an hour.

Slice and bake on a greased baking tray.

Allow cooling then dip half of each biscuit into white chocolate.

Allow cooling before serving.

Chocolate Sandwiches

Roll the chocolate dough into a sausage shape and cover with cling film.

Leave in the fridge for an hour.

Slice thinly and bake on a greased baking tray.

Allow cooling before removing from the tray.

Sandwich two biscuits together with the mint filling below, or any icing of your choice.

Mint Filling

Beat 100g (100ml) butter, 250ml icing sugar, 25ml cocoa, and 2ml mind essence together until light and smooth.
